What is Krill?

For the Koi hobbyist and/or home aquarium fish keeper that are not aware of what Krill is and it's benefits they are small shrimp-like members of the Crustacea class. They are cold water marine organisms harvested primarily from Arctic and Antarctic waters. The species Euphasia pacifica is found off the western coast of North America. The larger species Euphasia superba are large shrimp that are found off the continent of Antarctica. Krill are planktonic and feed on rich algae and zooplankton which make them extremely nutritious, when feed as part of an aquaculture diet.

 Now with the warmer pond water temperatures your Koi would love a treat of Krill from time to time. Krill helps improve the color in Koi and since it is high in protein promotes growth.

Krill can be feed to all types of fish, both Freshwater and Saltwater
